What a week! I hope the tips and resources shared throughout will help you and your family prepare for the upcoming school year. As I wrap-up our Back to School series, here are a few highlights:
Back to School Checklist: The Diabetes Medical Management Plan is a great resource for parents of children living with diabetes. You should develop a new plan every year, especially if the needs to care for your child have changed.
How to Prepare for a Student Living with Diabetes: Be prepared – have portable snacks, such as juice and crackers, at all times, especially during field trips and disaster drills.
Diabetes 101: Communication should help the transition run more smoothly – speak with roommates, friends and the resident advisor about your needs in the event of an emergency.
Hopefully you all will be ready for when fall arrives! Whether you’re headed to the classroom or college-bound, those first days hold so many milestones. The first step, first words, and first days of school remind us that another year has passed, and another is about to begin. Here’s to a great school year!
