It’s hard to believe that summer is moving so quickly – and you know what that means: back to school will soon be upon us! As preparation for the big school year ahead, we are doing a “Back to School” series where we will post about different school-related topics that we hope will help you get ready. Each day this week, we’ll share tips and resources focused on making this back to school season a little less stressful. Since back to school impacts more people than just our K-12 students, we’ll feature resources for caregivers and loved ones, teachers, and students who are heading off to college!
The topics we are focusing on include:
- Back to School Checklist: an informative checklist for parents and caregivers sending young children with diabetes to school. It covers what you should tell teachers, the school nurse, and overviews the Diabetes Health Plan.
- How to Prepare for a Student Living with Diabetes: a guide to diabetes for teachers including some helpful tips for teachers who have a child with diabetes in their classroom.
- Diabetes 101: a summary of what to expect when heading off to college and how to prepare for managing diabetes while away from home.
So, come back tomorrow for the first post: Back to School Checklist. And, don’t forget to check back all week long for a new topic to help you prepare for the upcoming school year.
Here’s to a happy, healthy school year!
Best, Laura K.
